Yeah or someone who really loves the sport, works really hard, makes some interesting priorities and gets the absolutely best bike he/she can afford.
I'm not rich, and most of my stuff is 2nd rate, but when it comes to bikes, and especially my dh bike, I spare no cash.
This is the bike I want, this is the bike I'll get, and sod everything else... and especially the ignorant, envious pillocks that will make fun of my below par riding...
Present company excluded of course.

Ps, I once had a Schwinn Straight 8, the frame cost as much as this whole bike, so I'd say pricing is getting good!

Buying the best you can get is fair enough, but just be prepared for a whole lot of people to think you look like a bellend on such an expensive bike.

but seriously though, you do see this is a bad attitude to have?
You could say that maybe they shouldn't make the best bike they can, 'cos it will be too expensive... but then maybe they didn't... think about it, if no-one buys this bike, then the black Supreme DH will be the top model, and that'll bring the brand down 'cos it's not expensive enough, or people will just say that people that buy that bike are "bell-ends".

I still feel I deserve this bike, it'll be funny to ride it now... maybe I am really good on a bike. Will you still think I'm a bell-end?

Yeah I was gonna say that I kinda agree, but I probably see it differently as I've been riding dh for so long and allway want the better product.
I guess I'd think someone on a nice bike would look like a dick, except mine won't look so nice, it'll be scratched, dirty and used, 'cos that's waht it's for  And so will my kit too.

I am not disputing any of that.
And using ronaldo is not helping your argument about not looking like a dick.
However my point is, why spend an extra grand on a bike, when the substantial differences are that it has a tuned shock to the athertons settings (i.e. not necessarily yours) and the WC stripes on it. Ok there are other things different from the team, but are there really £1k differences?
Its that that makes someone look poncy not that they have a really good bike.
Yeah sure if you have one fair play, personally I would have gone for the team bike nd got the thing set up perfectly for me, That would be less than £1k

I was told that the green bike no longer is being made, and that it's basically the same price as the WC bike.
Over here in Norway, where the mountains are steep and the lifts many, if you ride a lot it's good to have good equipment.

I rag the shit out of my Ford Connect, compact van, that's my two seater sportscar, but a Ferrari would be much more difficult to rag to it's limits.
As that footballer bloke found out, but if I could afford one I wouldn't mind a nicer car, I'd still keep my Ford though, 'cos it's well practical for karting my bike around!

If i saw some1 on the trails with this bike i would be soooo damn jealous,but im not sure if i would brand them a "dick" for being jammy enough to afford it. I would just take enjoyment out of drooling over it and at that point im pretty sure it would be me that looked the "dick" for getting a Hardon over a bike    but then i would quickly redeem myself by smoking their ass down the hill  lol.

Personally i love the colours of the green and white team bike and if i had enough cash i would buy one in a instant,hell i was thinking of buying one the other week (when steve posted bout his shop doing one on sale) even tho i didnt have the cash  , i bet the missus would have loved me that day..."how did ure day go dear???" " oh not bad had a boring one at work. How was your day mark?" "hmm not bad,had a crap day at work so i came home and cheared myself up by spending 3.5k of our savings on my 3rd new bike of the year" . LOL, i bet i would be sleeping with my bikes in the shed for a while after that!    ...hell i would prob sleep in the shed anyways,so to make sure no wee punk stole my nice shiny team dh! and to make sure it didnt get lonely.

back to the atherton colours. Im in Les Gets at the min and a shop has just recived 2 of these frames. i asked how much and he replied 1200 euro no shock which i didnt think was to bad really

thst is not bad at all, they had one (may still do so) at Icycles at Inners
