dt swiss do nice white ones you can get them with hope pro II hubs.  Mine are only 4,2s probably too lightweight for what you want but I am sure the guys can suggest which type is best.

HI MATE,

syncros flr ds 23mm rims weigh about the same as dt swiss. the heavier 28mm rims also weigh about the same as dt swiss equivalent.

my set are the 23mm with dt swiss comp spokes and hope pro ii hubs which seem the standard fair on decent wheels.

they look the biz in white also available in black i got my full wheels including xt cassette and spare rotors for £350 - i am very happy with their stuffand have bought a load of other syncros stuff for my bike. Grin

I'm running a Freedom Disc White wheelset on my 666 ( whilst I wait for enough spare cash to get some 1750's )....they are bomber and haven't let me down yet ( and they look 'ok' if you take the big Halo sticker off them ).

However, they are not light and the hubs need looking after in all this chuddy weather.

If you are on a budget they are a great option....but they are still a 'budget option'!

Hope that helps

Thanks guys, thats some good info for me to consider. i think the dt swiss are out my price range, the halos could be a poss,i always liked the sound halo hubs made, especially the spindoctors. Im still strongly being pulled towards the Azonic Outlaw wheel set tho,u can get them built up with white rims, white spokes and white hubs  Grin  and they are nicely priced too, only £220. Not the lightest but im sure 2.6kgs for the wheel set must be a fair saving on the original ones.

Halo rims on decent hubs is what I'd go for.
Freedom disc rims are pretty good, and I'm now running 4 of them.
Rear one on the Furious could do with being replaced, but it's seen over a year of abuse and isn't quite dead yet.

Hubs, if you can live with the lack of snaprings to hold the 20mm adpaters on the Halo Spindoctor front hubs, they're a good hub.
For rear, take your pick.
Hope's are usually a safe bet for a good compromise between weight/strength/cost/adaptability.
CK or Hadley for mega expensive/pimpy hubs.
Sun Ringle for heavyish but dependable hubs.
Shimano if you want to run Centrelock or just want something that works well for not much money.
Or any of the other hubs about.

I've been running the azonics since september.
No complaints so far, they are a bit hefty but are seroiusly strong. bearings are still really smooth too.

I weighed the outlaws while cleaning today to give you an idea on the weight loss (or more likely gain!)

Front 2.9kg Rear 3.25kg, that's with tubes, tyres (minion 2.5 dual ply), rotors and cassette. no axles.

I'd be interested to know the original weights.

lol, my maxmax (cheap and tough) weighs more than my mate's Orange 223 (totally 'factory')! I estimate near 40lbs, as it has super-tough wheels, well heavy tyres and pikes on it now.

Just learn to ride smoother and then put lighter tyres and tubes on, that will make a world of difference to your riding even if the weight doesn't change much...

The halo freedoms on the spindoctors aint that bad weight wise, the wheelset comes in at a fraction over 2.2kg,whuch is the same as the dt 2350's really but the Halo is much much cheaper, infact i could buy a set for my mini dh and my asboslut and still have cash left over!  Wink

I weighed my 07 mini and was shocked at the weight so I went on a weight saving mission. This is what I changed, the difference in weight and the cost:

Raceface Evolve AM Stem        165g           £36.99    -75g
Bontrager king Earl Handlebars   292g           £33.49     -148g
Easton seatpost   EA70                198g             -159g Already had this in shed. Think its 05 model
SLX Crankset                   995g           £99.99     -335g
Conti Mountain King 2.4 folding  670g x2 1340g   £33.98     -360g
Maxxis w/weight tube               230g x2 460g    £9.98     -140g

I changed the front mech to SLX and fitted X9 shifters, but they weighed fractionally more than what came off. At least now it actually changes gear when I want, not 10 mins later. Everything but the tyres and tubes are actual weights, as they haven't arrived yet. I weighed all the parts as they came off the bike, and all the new parts as they arrived. I probably need to get out more!
It's about 2.8lb saving for £215. I've changed the Pedals for V12's, Forks for Totem Solo's and converted the rear to bolt through and all in, it weighs approx 38lb with the Swinger 4 way shock, or 36-37lb with the Float.
A bit more respectable.
