Best bike i've ever ridden, massive smiles downhill and still good for an all dayer. I'd go for your own build tho, i splashed out for the distributers spec to get the Lyric fork, well happy with that but in the first 50 or so miles trashed a rim, destroyed the truvativ bb and bust the rear axle, now replaced with rkshx maxle at no small cost. What length stem are you all running on it,? the spec race face evolve xc looks a little long but the whole bike feels too compact to go much shorter.

And totally out of place on this rig IMO. Mine came with a Deus XC that was 120mm and it got binned pretty quickly! Don't know about the bike feeling too compact with a shorter one, I'm running a Deity 50mm and the cockpit feels totally nailed now. Down to personal preference I guess..

I went for the Deus 70mm stem and have got Shimano DX pedals (swapped over from my Orange 5) which are spot on.

I've never had any bother at all with XT so I got the full groupset (inc disc brakes) and upgraded hubs to Pro IIs. My only slight reservation is I got 2007 Float 36 RC2s. A bit of a misunderstanding when I placed the order (merlin had them on offer and thought I wanted the older versions). I did save £400 on the fork and got the whole package for an incredible £1900!! Anyone know of an after market QR for the 07 Fox?

I also got an E Thirteen bash for those Stainburn moments.

The build quality is unreal - looks like it's been done with real care and attention (they've put some of those rubber 'o' rings on the front mech cable - seems to shift OK).

We'll see how that Joplin performs in real life, but it just feels so right and the weight isn't so much more than the 5.

Aftermarket QR? Shimmy have the reliability nailed tight. But Hope are bling...but prone to coming undone if used by numpties/shellsuit wearers/3 kids at 17 type people

I was thinking for the 20mm thru-axle, rather than just the QR.

I have an outbound in the rear - seems pretty cool.

First ride today.......Oh yes, she rocks. A bit weighty on the climbs but the downs are so sure footed and fast - but smooth and fast, in control and fast. On my orange I felt I was only just hanging on at times.

We're going to become very good friends!!
