Hey people, hope you are all well!

Recently had a major cream in at Lady Bower, (hairpin... too fast... sh*t... brake brake brake... boom... ouch... ni nar ni nar ni nar... stitches... grapes and lucozade, you get the point...!  Embarrassed ) Superficials to my 5.5, trashed my rear skewer and seat somehow, don't really hear any reviews of these so wondering if you guys can suggest any strong, light skewers? Also the seat I had (SDG Bel Air) was uncomfortable... I've got a big but hard ass  Wink  so any advice on a new saddle would be appreciated...! Thanks  Smiley

Remember you can't have all three  Smiley

N.B. not vouching for these as haven't tried them.

My SDG Bel Air RL is the comfiest saddler I've tried so can't help you there.

Where exactly did you stack?

How about some Hope skewers? Lots of colours and not too badly priced.

As for saddles, I've yet to find a comfy one!

My mate has the dt swiss skewer on the back of his nomad and he reckons it is sweet! he is a tart though!
I like the WTB podium Ti saddles, had one but bike got stolen so bought another for my meta as it was so comfy, took a few rides to bed in though!

You could try one of the Specialized saddles, they come in different width fittings depending on the size of your bum (men and women styles).

I've heard people slate Hope skewers, but I guess you can have a bad experience with anything.

You mean Men (small) and Women (BIG)?  Grin Grin

It's all to do with the over centre cam design, and isn't just restricted to Hope.

It's explained on Sheldon Brown's site - http://www.sheldonbrown.com/skewers.html

However, provided you put a bit lube on the cam and give it a good tighten, you shouldn't have any problems.

I had a front wheel NEARLY come off on a mates bike with Hope skewer.  I thought it was just me not tightening it up properly, so pinched it right up but the next time he went out the wheel came flying off just as he took off from a small jump.

No serious damage to rider or bike but could have been worse, think I'd stick with black Shimano rather fancy coloured numbers that don't really work.

I had a problem (like others) with the standard skewers, which loosened on the back and then put to much stress on the rear wheel resulting in some snaped spokes.

Changed them http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=26623 and they have been great ever since.

Still after reading the thread on that bloke who broke his neck, I did check them
