Hello boys and girls,
I recently broke my Meta and am looking to replace it. I have been offered two choices for what amounts to about the same money.

Choice #1: 08 Meta  5 VIP with shock

Choice #2: 09 Meta 5 VIP without shock

The 09 comes with the new and improved rocker plates, which I broke and damaged my seattube when everything went crunch. It doesn't have a shock, but then I can use my old one.

The 08 comes with shock, which I can sell, and save some extra cash and get my shock pushed.

What would you do and why?

Thanks,
Eric

Hello boys and girls ...

Wow, it's just like being back at school   Smiley

I can tell you what I would do.

I'd get the 09 and fit the old shock mainly because it's simpler to do but...
You would get the new beefed up frame & linkages with the new geometry.  Is it a VIP frame with post as well?  That would be a bonus.

If you get the 08 you'll be better off ($$$$$ Grin )  and have a pushed shock, but it's more messing round.

You may not mind the trouble though, and as you say, ultimately it's the cheaper option after you've sold a shock.

What size frame are you after? I possibly have a demo 09 Meta 5.5 VIP frame for sale. (It's only about a month old!) I need to make room for a Corsair Marque! Email me if you're interested. team@bikeactive.com

Yes, indeed I am a Canuck but cross border or pond shopping has never bothered me.
I ride a large frame.

SteveP, yes it was very high schoolish comment, but I don't have a bike and I'm bored. Wanted to see what some peoples opinion's on the subject might be.

I believe that the frame would be the frame only and nothing else as they are selling them on this side of the pond with the option of shock or without. There is quite a difference as well, almost $600 between the two options at MSRP.

The 08 option does make more sense as I just saw a new RP23 shock sell for $315US on fleebay yesterday plus $20 shipping. People will pay anything.

Is the 08 without a shock an option ?
Would that be $600 cheaper...

I'm guessing that's not possible.

What model year did you break?

It would be great to get the 08 without the shock but I don't think it is an option.
The frame was an 06.
