Don't Giants come with a life time warranty?
I ended up breaking my Meta which was 2 weeks past warranty. Unfortunately for me, the distributor has changed in the US. The new distributor offered a minor reduction on an 08 model.

Apparently we will be getting a distributor in Poland (FINALLY!!!) so the warranty stuff can be sorted out more quickly. Prices also seem crazy good so If everything confirms I may go the commencal way.

I hope for you that your distributor in Poland is quick in warranty stuff, because every distributor for Commencal i had to deal with, was only quick in selling bikes. Every other things like spare parts or warranty replacement last forever. Even the new guys in germany have no ideas whats going on, so it looks to me that commencal likes the slow way.

I think you may be right rugbyred, last I heard he had it sorted and was on course for a replacement frame, personally though I would still be concerned at the quality if I had managed to snap a carbon fibre chainstay completely in two by riding canal towpath type rides. Goes to prove though any bike could brake at any time and Commies are no more subseptable than any other make.

it's prob not like the frame broke from an impact during that ride, but from fatigue over time. The lucky part is that it snapped in a none hazardous spot (from what i gather).  Frames brake -it's a part of life. Build quality is not always on par with the price, not that i know from experience anything about giants build quality.

The other day my frame had me a bit worried. It's a carbon scott ransom. It was quite cold outside and there seemed to be very much creaking coming from the frame, something that had me worried as it was moderately cold (7 degrees below freezing (celcius)). I was thinking "man, c an't the carbon frame take the cold?". Turns out it was just the gooey guey tires through very small rocks up on the downtube... i felt a bit stupid when i turned off the music and found out that that was the reason behind my worries.

concerning carbon frames, i'm really quite excited about the carbon metas due over christmas. I have absolutely no lpans what so ever of replacing my ransom, but a carbon meta might very well be my replacement frame when that time comes around. I do not believe commencals are prone to snapping, not more so than any other bike. It is nice though that they step up on the materials they use though. Good call there commie, good call.

I have just bought an 09 dh, and I am lucky not to have the worries of previous bikes as I have never heard of them cracking. Sure, EVERY manufacturer has had busted frames, but sometimes your unlucky, or a hard core mo fo! But, thats what a warranty is for! I hear commencal are pretty good with their customers.... So no worries from me.

Oh, and your right, the geo is lush!!!!

Greg

Could you by any chance tell us how heay your bike was out of the box? Thanks
