BikeBiz Awards: The Winners
The Archive | Search | Write for Singletrack

The voting has been double and triple checked – and today the first BikeBiz Award Winners are unveiled.

From BikeBiz.com...

Over 50 judges from across the industry voted on the market's finest achievements in all sectors of the business – from IBDs to sales, marketing and media.

Highlights include UK cycling industry veteran Bob Chicken picking up the Industry Achievement Award, whilst London-based Condor Cycles is named Independent Retailer of the Year. Elsewhere, Hot Wheels and Extra have picked up awards in the Distribution categories, and Hope Technology has been voted as Best Manufacturer.

The first awards to celebrate the teams and individuals behind the thriving UK cycling industry, as well as the products, the BikeBiz Awards were carried out transparently. Nominations and soundings were taken from across the market to create a list of Finalists and over 50 judges were then asked to vote on the ultimate winners.

"Congratulations to all the winners of the first BikeBiz Awards. And thanks to the industry judges; I think they picked the right winners," said BikeBiz executive editor Carlton Reid.

"Sadly, not everybody could walk away with an award, but whether a company won or not, the breadth of excellent entries showed me that the bike industry is teeming with talent, not all of it latent. We Brits are getting better at shouting about our skills and successes, and the BikeBiz Awards are all about rewarding companies and people for the passion and hard work that was so evident from the nominations."

The Bike Biz awards are one of the funniest things I've ever seen along these lines before. They mean absolutely nothing to anybody. Originally Bike Biz was gonna have a big grand dinner/dance type event with tables for sale at about a grand each. It was billed (by Bike Biz) as the awards ceremony the bike trade deserved) No one bought a table, so they made it an online thing with voting done by anyone within the trade whose email they could get hold of. I was asked to vote, so I voted for friends in the trade!

It was all very funny.

Now, Commencal Deal Of The year.... That's a proper award ;-)

Yeah well the fact that halfords won an award for anything just cements steve's point bout it being a joke in the bike industry.
And am i missing something here...but what are Edinburgh bikes specialists in?
