There is a voluntary agreement that between the hours of 10.00 am and 5 pm from 1st May to 30th September cyclists should not cycle on the Snowdon bridleways
So not long until you can ride it at anytime

snowdon makes for a great ride, i did it a couple of years ago. as hermit says there are some restrictions as to when you can do it, though the rules are voluntary, but if you can work around them, or wait till october i'm sure you'll have a blast. i went up the llanberis path and came down the rangers path (much more techy), though i'd like to do it again but come down the llanberis, i bet its scary fast!

Hello,
I rode Snowdon a couple of weekends ago with my girlfriend. Well rode up is a bit of a loose statement, we rode about 5% and had to push the rest. You may think you can ride it all but be prepared for a lot of pushing.
We left the hotel at the bottom of the llanberis path at 6am and reched the top at 9am, by 10am we were down.
I can reccomend the Legacy Royal Victoria Hotel from bookin.com, only £50 per night

Look at this post for some pictures of our trip,

Make sure you have good brakes if you intend on going for it

Is the visitor centre open at the top yet? they're building a new one which was supposed to be finished in summer iirc.

Don't wanna hijack the thread but.....at least MBR have an opinion on stuff i.e. kit, unlike the American magazines who don't seem to slag anything off. Probably worried about getting sued.

I've done it before. Went up and back down the 'Pig Trail' which I think is the Llanberis route you're talking about, but don't quote me! Of that, at least some was rideable. Probably over 50% if you're fit and a good technical climber. The first half of the hill is mostly doable, but from there on it was a push up for me. But you don't really do it for the uphill! Coming down seems to happen really quickly. I think we took about 3-4 hours to go up, and about 30 minutes to come down, including many puncture stops.

Sorry, quoting...
The Pyg track goes from Pen y Pass.
In descent it goes down to the right from the col (fingerstone) between Snowdon & Crib y Ddysgl.
Not sure it's even a bridleway... but would be epic on a bike, very loose with dangerous exposure in places imo.

Would be impressed to see someone coming down the Pyg Track! (Unless I was on it at the time, in which case I would probably be forced to jump out of the way!)
Was due to go up the Llanberis Path and down the Rangers' today, but stuff got in the way. Wasn't convinced that my technical skills were up to the Rangers' descent anyway.....(but also didn't fancy going up AND down the same path).

I said not to quote me! I've just looked it up and it was the Llanberis path (next to the railway line) not the
Pig
Pyg track.
