Body armour sizing tips needed

I just sold my Medium 661 Pressure Suit after just a couple of rides. Too big for its size, and too bulky. Now I'm getting a new one, and I have to order on the Internet since the LBS does not have any interesting models. I am considering these:
- No Fear Empire
- Brand X X Suit (very nice customer feedback at CRC)
- 661 Pro Pressure Suit
Anyone who owns one of these? I'm really curious about the No Fear armour, so any sizing info on that one would be great.

i would strongly advise u to try on any armour before ordering it on the net, something as important as armour has to fit correctly or it simply wont do its intended job. Seeing as u already have had to sell one suit cos it didnt fit properly i would have thought you didnt want to make the mistake twice?
What one person finds is a good product and fits them nicely you may find to be completely useless or uncomfy. It would be totally worth your while driving the extra hour or so to a shop that does stock the items you have named, cos at the end of the day when it comes to safety you should always go that extra mile to get the right gear and not cut any corners.

100% agree, try before you buy with armour and helmets.

I agree with you both, but like I said, the LBS doesn't have what I need. Up here most riders ride really fast on gravel with lycra shorts, heart rate monitors and hardtails with carbon bottle cages and 300 grams tyres, and those are the sort of customers the shops are addressing.

why dont you order all three from CRC and then send back what you dont want. You will get a better comarison and also you are only sending back one parcel with several items rather than doing things one at a time. PS My husband has the rockgarden body armour which he loves but he ended up ordering it direct from the states as it was out of stock here.

I got the Brand x body armour in medium for the odd bit of weekend mayhem and am well impressed with it for comfort and protection. I have a 40 inch chest and 34 inch waist and it fits lovely, the spine protector is a little long at the bottom but then I am a short arse!
When we were in wales last month I lowsided on the cwm carn DH track at about 25mph and slid for about 15 yards on my forearms, the armour stayed on nicely and saved me losing any skin, lovely
my 661 knee pads on the other hand didn't save my knee from a serious bash which is still numb today
Hope that helps!

Thanks Bigboy, that really helps. I'm almost 38" round my chest, would you recommend the same size? I'd really hate it if it was too big round the shoulders or have too long arms, but for size I understand that arm length is on the short side, so it might not be a problem for me if I go for medium. From what I see the pads look a bit adjustable too? You can pull the shoulder pads in towards the chest plate and the spine protector?
But actually Karen has a good point - why don't we think like women, guys?

I have an unused Brand X in medium which I bought for mountainboarding but it was too restrictive for that (need a lot more upper body movement than biking).
I can try it on and post some measurements for you, and if you want it and are willing to cover my postage costs it's yours.
PM me if interested mate
