Back from holiday to find a brand new Meta 666 frame as a replacement for my Meta 5.   Soften the blow of being back to reality I guess!!

My questions mainly revolve around which kit to stick straight over from Meta 5.5?  First things first and which fork would be my best option to go with this frame? Had Pikes on the 5.5 so obviously need something else, so what would 666 owners recommend?

Secondly and more generally, will I be ok to shove eveerything else straight over from the 5.5?  Atlas AM crankset & BB/stem and Bar combo/seatpost, Avid Juicy7 brakes etc.   Basically the 5.5 was built up to be AM and was hoing I could make the change to thee bigger frame without too much expense at the moment.  Obviously this is a good chance to change things, but got a sair credit crad bill from New York to sort out first!!

Thirdly how do you convert the rear Hope Pro2 hub to bolt thru?  Got the two sets of dropouts with the new frame and was curious as to whethe 666 riders have done this and do they notice the difference if they have?

So can anyone lend their wisdom?

Ok, even though I am still running them, do not be tempted by a set of Marz 55's up front. You want to spend more time on the trails and less time waiting for replacement parts!  Lips Sealed

Current favourites would seem to be Lyrics or get yourself something from Fox with a 36 at the end  Grin

The rest of your kit sounds spot on for an initial build, just upgrade it if you need to in the future.

I'm not sure how to convert the Hope hubs, but you should have the drop outs to take a 12mm bolt thru?

Either way the 666 does benefit from a stiffer rear end.

Now get building and get the best bike in the range* out on the trails  Grin

Mmm, interesting  I have actually been considering the 55's because of the much cheapness in comparison to 36's and Lyriks, but I did seem to remember a few grumbles about them on here!

So is just a matter of buying the 12mm axle and firing on the other drop-outs?  Thought it'd be more complex than that, but I'm a bit dense sometimes.

In short....DON'T!

The guy who took mine in at the shop to get fixed wasn't surprised to see them and joked that his own set had been back three times already  Angry

Spend more money and get some Lyriks or 36's.....no seriously forget the 55's even exist....blank them from your mind.....

Check mtbr.com forum for 55, no one is happy with it. Here is a nice quote from one topic:

Yes, please don't even bother with 55s, Angry not even if your are offered them with money or free sex! You WILL have to take them back after you have broken them in the first few weeks and they don't perform at all how you would expect marzocchis to! I just got Lyrik coil uturns as a replacement for my 55s and am instantly impressed by them, although for a 666 you really can't go wrong with foxes either! And for your rear hub I do believe you need one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11825 just pop the circlips off and swap over the supplied parts, I have the 12mm maxle on the back of my meta 5.5 and tried the standard QR on a mates demo bike, once you go bolt through you will notice the flex in a QR setup on the meta, go on you know you want to!

I've just converted my 5.5 to 12mm bolt through on my hope 2 rear hub. £20 for the kit and £3.99 for the bolt itself.

Will post some pics up if you want.
