I've just updated the Real Cycles website with the final and official 09 prices. They ain't as bad as many thought with some bikes only going up a tenner compared to the guide prices released in July, and best of all the most popular bikes have not gone up at all.

Better still now that the competition is releasing they're 09 prices the Commies as ever stack up very favorably, so not only are they now considered better than the rest, they're still cheaper than most!

Official 09 prices will be with dealers in the next 24hrs and stock is due to start arriving in store over the next few weeks so hot foot it along to your local dealer and put your name down on one of the stunning new 09 Commencals, or alternatively order it whilst checking out the official pricing on Real Cycles and we'll take a ten percent deposit now with the balance when it ships.

 Shocked

Wow, i'm gonna think again with £1600 for the price of the supreme frame, when the full bike is the same price...

Hello Steve. Do you know the weight of the 2009 Meta 5.5.1 yet?

I notice it comes with 21mm sun equalizer rims. The 2008 5.5.1 came with Mavic XM321's according to the commy website.  The new rims are 220g lighter each than the Mavics. Is the new one a lot lighter?

Just curious. My 5.5 VIP comes in at 31lbs and would love to shift some weight and I thought maybe I could follow the new 5.5.

Cheers.

A lot of the '08 Metas come with Equalizer 27s, which are 27mm external, 19.4mm internal width.
The XM321s are obviously 21mm internally.
Equalizer 21s are 16mm internally, ie narrower than something like XC717s.

Either the '09 Sun Ringle have changed a lot (hence the weights being wrong) or those numbers are wrong Smiley Looking at the spec I'd assume a fairly similar weight.

The spec says that the 2009 comes with Equalizer 21's not 27's.Maybe they have made a mistake. I didn't realise that the '08 meta came with 27's Undecided.  I thought that they might be trying to make it lighter but then noticed that the forks are a bit heavier for next year, only slightly though. I've was looking on the various websites to get the figures.

Maybe they are keeping the weight pretty much the same by juggling the parts spec about.

Not sure, thats why I asked. Smiley

How about buying 5.5.2 and then upgrade wheels to Mavic Crossmaxx ST, changing handlebar to Easton Monkeylite and crankset to e.g. Shimano XT 770. Result would be equally priced than higher model, but lighter and as ridable as original.

Not buying another bike as already got one. I already run monkeylite's and XT. The area I'm looking at is my wheels and tyres as I think that is where I can quite easily remove some weight. I also already run Hope 2's and want rims only and the lighter version high rollers.

Looks like Sun might actually have changed their numbering next year. 21 being 21mm inside, much like Mavic. The weights floating around will be for this years though, 21 being very narrow.

ZTR rims come out quite light for their size? Flow if you want the width or potentially Arch/355 if not. To be honest if you don't need that much width even 719/819 would shave quite a bit off. You'll still fine be running 2.35" High Rollers.

why is this?  I would be tempted to upgrade to the latest frame if the frames were a more reasonable price.

when i got my mini dh, it was £1250 rrp, so there is a price increase of £350. that's like.. a 30% price hike!!!   Cry

i'm surprised the prices have gone up so much. I'm afraid that now commencal have priced themselves out of the majority of the market..

The new VIP comes with an E13 (£110 RRP) and Thomson Seatpost (£70RRP) so your seeing just over a 10% price increase in the frame- which because raw material prices have gone up by about 20% in the last year or so, isn't bad.

You also get a top end shock (DHX 5.0?) with the VIP models.

But the 07 came with a DHX Air, so it although its a better shock it doesn't cost anything more.

Don't forget, there are big profit margins there in the E.13, and thompson @ RRP.

Fact is, is that if you just want the frame, you can pay extra for the full build, sell all the parts, then in the end, only pay about £1k for the frame. that leaves enough change for a CC DB shock. uber lightness and race tuning. Smiley
