Hello,

Just came back from a ride on my 07 meta 5.5.3, and have bent the rear gear hanger and sram 7.0 mech, so time for an upgrade me thinks....

What is the best value for money rear mech, was thinking XT...?

Thanks!

Might be wrong on this but if you get XT won't you have to change the shifter as well?
I believe the SRAM & Shimano mechs have different leverage ratios...

Steve P is correct. Your SRAM shifters will not work with a rear Shimano derailleur and vice-versa.

Yeah I heard that. Shimano are 1:1 and SRAM are 2:1 or tuther way round I think.

yeah sram are 1:1, personally i like sram gears for their reliablility in changing, even if its not as smooth as shimano, at least it always changes, id go for the X9

Sram X-9. If you've already for a sram shifter, you won't need a new shifter.

If you were to go for a shimano mech, you'll need a shimano shifter.
