Hi mate,

I've got a raceface diabolus headset on my mini dh, deep cups add strength, very strong, very smooth, fit and forget, bit expensive but I can't fault the function.

Hope headset looks good too.

Hi,

I have the hope headset, nice touch including the headdoctor which eliminates the use of the nasty star washer insert type things.

The inner bearing support/race is split so easily removable should you wish to easily swap over forks.

If I was looking to buy another headset I would choose it again.

FSA XLII. £20 from Winstanleys, fantastic headset that go on for ages.

Nothing wrong with star fangled nuts, most reliable method.

how bout trying the FSA orbit MX   http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2217, its a good price at a penny under 35 notes and it seems to have superb feedback.

looked at hope but they get mixed reviews, some good but quite alot of bad, was thinking of the raceface diablos for durabilty i want something that can handle the mud and rain and alot of downhill and jump abuse, reading all the review there is no clear winner apart from the king but it comes at a price and it seems to be reviewed by only cross country riders.. am i right in thinking this or can it be used for dh?Huh???

Kings are good, and tough. They do have a havit of scoring your steerer tube on long travel forks, so I sold mine and now run FSA Xl2's on my three bikes- Mini Dh, Kona Dr Dew and soon a Supreme DH

I use a Hope headset.

Piddly easy to fit, split race means no whacking on, and the head doctor thing means no star nut, so there is no ugly star nut stuck in the steerer.
