I know I should really know the answer to this one, but I'm not 100% on it.

In theory XTR cranks won't fit on the 08 frame as they'll foul the swingarm due to having a low Q factor, but has anyone tried it?

That Doddy guy from MBUK has XTR on the Meta he runs. Its in the 20th anniversary edition from June 2008. He states "The XTR transmission is flawless - especially with the Rapidfire shifters"

I have them on my Meta 6 and no issues whatsoever. I can post a pic of the clearance if you'd like.

Q factor is the distance between the two crank arms at the pedal end. If that makes sense!

Thanks for the info guys, I shall be putting XTR cranks on the Meta5 then! (Only doing as I got them cheap with the Rohloff, which is now being sold as I'll never use it!)

Well put them on today and nowhere near enough clearance for my liking. One iffy landing or summit and I'd have a nice crank/swingarm interface, so I'm sticking with me XT's.

Well at least you know and at least I know not to have XTR cranks on mine.

Cheers.

I suspect for lighter riders, or those will to take the risk, they'll be fine, just I'm not a light rider!

I'm not much of a rider either Steve, more of a faller. Roll Eyes
