Hello all.

I have Standard Shimano cables on my 5.5 geartrain. I am having bother when I've left my bike after washing it with the rear cable sticking in the sheath even with oil in them.

Have any of you used those Gore Ride-On cable kits?, or is there a better/cheaper way of preventing this?

Cheers Dom.

Just looked at them and they look ok. It seem you may have to but 2 sets of the gore ones as they may not be enough outer cabling according to CRC and at £35 per kit it could turn out a bit dear. The mudlover ones are £17 which is not that bad.

FYi, not put on the meta yet. had on VPfree. Didnt have to buy two packs for that but didnt have a front mech. So you may need more than one set but as you say cheaper than the gore stuff

The mudlover ones come with 2 x 1700mm outer and 2 x 1800mm  inner sleeves which is ample for the meta so one pack should be enough.
Which is nice.

Got mudlovers on my 55XT, brilliant! Added a little 'cablemagic' lube on install and haven't touched them in nearly a year!

Thanks for the info.

Living in the north west of England I need somert badly. All it does is p*ss down.
Went up a place called Gorple in Burnley last night, fook me it was wet. Had grit in my chain, the gears were all over the place, horrible.

Have a shopping list on CRC. Just waiting for the neoprene mudflap to come in stock. My goggles were sh*t up to the nines. Sad

Even though it was a bad night it was still enjoyable in the fact that I've never ridden blind before! Grin

Adds a bit more adrenalin to the ride I think.

Supposed to be a nice weekend so thats a bonus.

Been riding with Gore cables for years now & they are truly fit and forget. The standard Gore kit fits a Meta 5 fine with outer to spare.

Cheers,
