08 Vip frame (medium) with rp23
Pike 454 air u-turn
Race Face Deus post
SDG Rl Ti saddle
Race Face Deus 70mm Stem
Race Face Deus bars (660mm)
FSA 'The Pig' Dh Pro Headset (176 gms i.e.6oz!)
XT brakes (180/160)
XT levers
XT front and rear mechs & shifters
XT chainset, cassette & cranks.
XT Hubs on DT 5.1 rims
Pair of Conti Mountain King 2.2 Pro's
M540 pedals

Digital bathroom scales say 30.9lbs or 31lbs dead.
The Deus stuff and the Conti's help to keep the weight down but the Pikes push it up.
Just changed the pedals for flatties but barely any heavier.
I could lose 4 - 5 oz of that quite easliy by changing to the Hope headset on my other bike and chopping the seatpost down to the '53g' mark  Smiley

Iain775, interesting to see that your 08 5.5.1 comes in at 30.9lbs !
I've been envying all those 5.5.1 riders flying round on 28lb bikes (per the Commie catalogue).
Those pedals must be really heavy.

That review Steveb has posted today mentions water ingress into the seat tube.  Are you sure you're not carrying a pint of water round with you??? Grin Grin

VIP medium frame
marzocchi 55
Crossmax ST wheels
xtr chainset+rear mech
xt brakes
thomson stem+post
sdg saddle
continental mountain king 2.2s

30lbs bang on.

....got High Roller 2.35s Kevlars on now so maybe 30.5 lbs but soooooooo worth it. The Contis were  Lips Sealed

Infact, I don't want to hijack this thread but I was chatting to a guy on an Uplift day at Cwmcarn and he said just look to see if someone punctures - 9 times out of 10.....its Contis!! Come to think of it........  Grin

Was that with Pro's ?
Anyone experience of pinch flats with Pro's?

I'm just off to the Lakes for 4 days with a pair of MK Pro's ...
And some spare tubes.

2 days of chucking the bike down some rough tracks around Ambleside and one day of the Lakes chucking it down on me around Grizedale (god was it wet) & no punctures on the Conti MK Pro's.  The ride guide flatted twice on 2.35 Nevegals.  Don't know what pressures he was running.  I had 37lbs in both.

2006 large
Pike 454 air u-turn
Race Face Evolve post (stock) Have a Deus post that I have not got around to putting on
SDG saddle (stock)
Thomson X4 Stem
Sunline V1 Carbon bar
Cane Creek 110 headset (red)
Formula K24 front brake (180)
Formula K18 rear brake (180) stock
X9 shifters (stock with those stupid, non working gear indicators, who uses those?)
LX front mech (stock)
X9 shorty cage
Holzfeller OCT crank (24-36-bash)
SRAM PG-970DH cassette (11-28)
Hadley Hubs, Sapim X-Ray spokes on Stan's Flow rims
Big Betty (fr), Fat Albert (rear), both run tubeless
Crank Brother's 5050XX pedals
Oury Lock-on grips
DT Swiss RWS rear skewer 10mm
32.49lbs

Wish it was lighter (I think everyone wishes they had a lighter bike) but I don't feel like I will break anything. I can pedal all day, climb for 3 straight hours and take it on any downhill I want.
Only upgrade I can see in the future will be an adjustable seat post. Anything else will be replaced if broken but I may go back to a 1X9 (keep 36 up front and put a cassette with a 11-32 on).
Love the bike.

Mine

5.0 VIP 06 Frame with RP3
Mavic XM819 on hope pro2 hubs with Conti Mountain King UST 2.4
XT Cranks, Mechs and shiters
USE Atom Carbon Bars
Thomson X4 90mm stem
Raceface XY Seatpost
SDG Bel Air Ti saddle
Formula The One brakes
Pike 454 Air U-turn forks
Halo Porkie rear skewer.

I weighed it a few months back and it was 31.8lbs but that was with my old brakes (LX) so it'll be a bit lighter now. I've had it over 34lbs before with a set of 2.5 High rollers and tbh did not notice much difference.

Domi,
Have not ridden much in mud with the BB. The weather has been weird here. It has either been a super downpour of rain and then dries quickly (ride in rocky area). It is great riding through rivers when it rains!
I lost confidence in the tire as it burped pretty easy (running it tubeless but it is not a tubeless tire) and had a nasty "sit down", but I am gaining the confidence back with the tube in it.

2007 small VIP meta5
2003 XT cranks, cassette, shifter and rear derailleur
X9  front derailleur
Fr: Hope bulb, F219, 2.35 high roller
R: Hope Pro II, 721, 2.35 high roller semi-slick
FSA 360 headset
Thomson 70mm stem
Easton ea70 monkeybar
ODI Ruffians
2008 36 Talas
Avid juicy7 Fr: 180, R: 160
Dean Ti seatpost
Spesh phenom saddle

Surprised to find 35.3lb according to digital bathroom scale. Although very confidence inspiring as built, where’s the beef man? Only as a rhetorical question though, not going to spend more to lighten things up. Interesting to note, bike feels lighter and stiffer than when it was fitted with a Pike Race.

Hello Steve,
Getting ready for the winter season?
Hope you were able to get lots of road rides in this summer.
Was down in Vermont few weeks back, Kingdom Trails were in great shape and checked out Millstone Trails as well. Millstone were way more technical and lots of fun with some great views of the surrounding area. You should get your crew down there.
