Just found this forum, which is great, as last week i bought an 07 5.5.2,after reading a few reviews in some mags...And have to say what a great bike it is!!...as soon as i got on it ,it felt right,,,and after a couple of longish off road runs,it is the best bike i have owned,,just makes you want to get back on it!! Smiley...

so well done commencal....a very happy rider,,

Nice one Symon what did you have before and whom is you commy dealer? Why not post some pic's of your new ride in the users bikes section. Waiting for my frame to arrive and to start the build and that will be my first commencal.  It's giving me time to get all the bits and clear some space in the garage but the wait is a pain Smiley

Hi,
I had a hard tail gary fisher, and a marin before that, both great bikes...but the 5.5 seems so much nicer to ride...i bought it from a shop in sheffield, for £1200 delivered, which i thought was great..my local commencal dealer, was very unhelpfull, and said that there were no more 07 's left anywere, and i would have to buy an 08!!!...would post a pic,but at the mo its just like any other 5.5.2!..will wait untill ive pimped it up a bit!!(not)...... Smiley

cheers simon

Nice one Symon, got an '07 5.2 myself and love it.  Really good bike although if you want to make it even better get rid of the stock tyres as soon as possible  Smiley  Pity your local dealer couldnt help you out, know stock is getting a bit thin but I think Steve was able to get most Metas so there must have been some about?

My 5.2 came with 2.1 High Rollers which were fine on dry fireroad but pretty scary on anything remotely muddy (which theres been a lot of lately).  I replaced them (on the advice of others) with Panaracer Cinders in 2.1.  I got the "Sports" which are a bit of a bargain at £19 each.  Ive been using these as an all rounder, mixture of fireroads, off road trails and mud and theyve coped really well in all conditions.  I have also tried the Intense CC225's which were very good but they are around £6 a hoop more expensive and an absolute bugger to get on/off rims.  Ive heard very good things about the Intense Edges if you spend more time going down than up as well.  Cinders are my choice though Smiley
