Hy Guys

I'm new in this forum. So I don't know if anybody had the same problem...
The Story:
Last weekend I was riding a my Meta 5.3 (2006) at the top of the mountain I saw that there was something at my upper tube (5 cm next to the end of the upper tube) the upper tube (not the welding; the tube) was broken. there are just 2 cm left which are ok... Sad
So my problem is, that the frame is from 2006 and I have no Invoice for this frame. Commencal Germany (and Austria) told me, that they need an Invoice and that there is no warranty after 2 years!!!
Can anybody tell me what I could do?

Thanks a lot

I'm from Austria.
The Problem is, that Commencal doesn't want to change my broken Bike if they get no Invoice or if (which it is) the frame is older than 2 Years. So I just could buy a new one after 2 Years (somtimes) riding.
If you want more pictures... No problem!!!

Where did you buy the bike from and how did you pay for it?

If you paid for it on a credit card ( or debit card ) you could go back through your records?

Warranties are always limited and they normally always need proof of purchase.

OK, that was a pretty common issue on the early 06 Meta 5 frames. How come you don't have the original purchase receipt?

I bought the Bike last year at e-bay. But it's too long ago to check who the seller was because there are no detailed Information available. Just for the last 90 days.

Hmm, I'd say your out of luck them really.

The warranty is for 2 years, officially that's with the original owner, but Commencal via their distributors have been known to bend that rule. Considering your the 2nd owner via Ebay (so no way to trace the original distributor/shop (with whom the warranty actually is, not Commencal)  and it's most likely out of warranty anyway, means your most likely goig to have to find the original ebay seller or just replace it at your own cost.

Contrey to what most think Commencal offer no warranty on the frame to the end user themselves. The warranty is with the shop that originally sold the frame (and so made the profit) and in turn the distributor from whom the selling shop bought the frame for re-sale. The warranty that Commencal advertise on their own website for French customers, who whom Commencal are the distributors. Unless Commencal now operate a international RTB warranty, which I'm pretty sure they don't.

So, to recap, the original warranty on your frame rests with the shop the original buyer bought it from, so your only real hope is to locate the original shop, or distibutor, and appeal to their better nature.

This is one of the pitfuls of buying 2nd hand, the upside is you get a cheap frame!
