Hi (Question for steve B),

I understand that the new 09 linkage plates will fit 08 meta 5's. I want to stiffen up my rear swingarm on my Meta6 (noticing even more flex as trails are dry and hard) and was wondering if Commencal are making stiffer Meta 6 linkage?

Cheers, (any help from others welcome too!)

Hiya, you were missed at this years launch.

Yes they're making stiffer ones for the new 09 666, but no it's not backwards compatible Sad

No idea why, the Meta5 one is, but not the Meta6.

Thanks for the info Steve. Knew you would know!!

Nice to be missed!, from what I heard, I didn't miss any good riding weather though (like we had in Les2Alps).

I see that you were still out enjoying a day in the muck, no change! Wink

I may need a new 2009 meta6 frame then (if it will definitely be stiffer).

Off to Verbier this weekend, taken downhill bike in past years, and was going to take the Meta6, but unsure. Its definitely so capable in the suspension/balance performance, to tackle all the singletrack, but not in the rough fast, compression hitting turns Sh1t. My mind keeps telling me I'm too old for fast rough Sh1t, so take it, but the bike pushes me on.....

Dilemma!?

Weather, and for that matter the trails, were just like home for me so I was in my element.

I had the same dilemma on my recent Spain trip: Meta 5 or Mini DH. I ended up taking the Mini and was so glad I did. Did it last year on the Meta5 and the Supreme though harder on the climbs was so much more fun on the downs.

You enjoying being a "punter" again? ;-)

I would venture a guess that the longer stroke on the 2009 Meta6 shock is the cause of backwards incompatibility.

couldn't one just swap shock on the original frame too then? I take it the extra 7mm of stroke doesn't result in any extra travel (right?).

I was thinking the same thing.
