Hi to all and be gentle on my first post with lots of questions.

I am looking at building a small Commencal Flame based on the 2008 frame set.  Have a few questions

1) Can anyone confirm the frameset for 08 is white
2) Can any owners of the 07 flame comment on how it rides and what sort of riding they do or if anyone has tried a 08 any specific pro's and con's over other bikes you've had, I'll be riding XC stuff like Afan, Swinley, Bedgebury that type of thing.
3) This I don't expect anyone to know but what length does the steerer tube for the forks need to be on a small as I have some 100mm forks to reuse  Smiley
4) Going to order it this week and build it up over the coming weeks.
5) What size is the seatpost tube for seatpin and post.

Cheers all

Thanks,

Also the Small on the Flame is that 16" bottom bracket to top of seat tube?

Beginning to think I might be the only Flame owner out there.
Picture of the frame on it’s own shows it in white and this differs from the anthracite silver as a complete bike. So I guess go with the picture.
I’ve had the 07 Flame from beginning of the year and since then I’ve never needed to look at another bike. It’s superb!
So far the majority of riding has been around Norfolk including a few occasions at Thetford. Never needed to worry about full suspensions as this bike really copes well with the terrain. It is very fast, very light and excellent geometry. Great for XC. I come from road racing background and I was worried about the length of the top tube etc and only ever having owned one other MTB (Look Competition Cup) but after a couple of rides I’ve settled in. So happy I’ve managed to get a friend to purchase a Super Normal, a wiser choice for those who can’t stretch to a Flame.
Yep 16” is from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat post tube. Go with the height (person) to frame size on the Commencal website, it’s a good guide.

As far as I'm aware, all the framesets come in VIP colours, which for this year is white with green 'Superteam' logos.

Cool thanks for the replies i'll check the sizing and hope it's the VIP colours.  Going to the shop to order tomorrow.  The Flame does appear a rare beast and but those that have them rate them, looking for to getting the frame and building it up over the coming weeks, pictures will follow.

Was looking at the Flame frame last night, would love to have one.  Very tempted to build up one as light as I can for XC use as this is what I tend to do mainly and just keep the 5.2 for larking around.  That said the Flame could be built up very light, but unfortunately I am not very light at all so how well that would work I dont know!

I won't be building it as light as I can as I don't have the cash to buy all weight weenie bits Smiley So although it will be built with nice components they won't all be the lightest there will be some XTR/XT.

I am lighter than I used to be but aiming lower I think it will be easier for me to loose a few pounds than the cost of getting the bike from say 28 - 23lbs Smiley

Once I have some spare cash I'll change the forks as that's going to be a weak point.

Sorry, I should have defined light - light to me is XT anyway, dont believe in all that XTR stuff*  Wink  The new XT range looks amazing as well!  What forks have you in mind?  I like the look of the Reba's but no idea what they are like...

*i.e. my wallet cant facilitate it!

I have some Marzocchi MX Comp ETA to go on them but IMHO they are not a great fork reviews say otherwise and will use them until Funds allow for a nice set of Fox FL100's or Rock Shox Reba Race Fork.  Again not sure on the Reba's but be nice to try something different.
