Aren't wives BRILLIANT!

Also girlfriends and possibly boyfriends (just to be pc).

They put up with our fascination of using too much money on little bits of metal and plastic (come on carbon fibre is just a pretty name for plastic), and then trashing the said bits in mud and on rocks, harming ourselves in the process.

They patiently put up with our droning on about singletrack and gears, progressive compression and head-angles , nodding in all the right places.
They come with us to ride and get badgered into standing correctly and leaning more forward, only to not "get it" like we do.

We're wierd.
And they like it.

That's what makes us interesting.

My girlfriend keeps nagging me to build her up a pink bike ever since I showed her Hope's pink range of brakes and hubs.

I've just sold my wife's bike, she hasn't ridden it for over a year.
When she found out she says "but that was part of us..."
I think I'll use the money on getting something lighter and faster... for her.

My fiancee rode more than my wife does... something about a wedding, women change.

Mind you though, I'm a bit glad too, I hated worrying if she was all right when we were riding together. Especially when she zigged when she should have zagged on the national dh trail in Switzerland. Thank goodness for TLD protection and cow-pats!

My girlfriend never did mountain biking before she met me amd 2 years ago I took her for a blast around Llandegla. Had to buy her a VIP Meta after that  Roll Eyes

But in all honesty she is great. I love biking with her as I kind of like looking after her and seeing her gain confidence and skills. Then the other month she put all of the skills together and has a semi big off..lol

what really got myself crazy and back to mountainbiking after over 10 years, was when me and my gf took a downhill day in mae sai in thailand. even i was the second fastest on the track with my old skills from the spine(if you can call those skills!), the gf was the fastest, never ridden any kind of mountainbike before! flying over the bars and laughing about it. I shit my pants... that was a blast!!!

Ok I get the "get your burd" into biking so that you can go on holiday and keep up your chosen sport - fantastic. Also a quick fumble in the trees I get. But taking her biking in the UK at your local trails means that you have no friends. It also means that said bird is in control of your life and you are not.

If you G/F, wife, partner, lover etc is keeping up with you - you  are sh*t slow at biking. If you are having to slow down to let her keep up then this is a sh*t day out.

Are there any winners here? No just bitter expensive divorce. If you are struggling please visit www.buyafriend.com

Glad you're not bitter or anything... Smiley

I actually wanted my woman to ride independently of me, so we could meet at the lifts or in the trails.
That she could experience the riding community that is so positive (mostly) and make new friends like I do basically every time I ride.

I dunno, I think she's just in nesting mode at the mo (new house, ring on el fingo etc)... I actually think selling her bike woke her up a bit.
We have also moved from the city and I think she'd forgotten that my riding buddies are actually our good friends.

Maybe there's hope in a Mini DH 620 for her..?

Nah i reckon im more in agreement with cramaj's view on this one. Well maybe not as full on as he said, but i dont believe in taking my bird biking (or snowboarding for that matter),
i reckon that we need to have our own interests for the good of our relationship. I mean we live together,we vacation together in the summer,we do pretty much everything else together(mine even comes to the pub with me to get bladdered) so i reckon a bit of time apart now and again (well i say now and again, but im out on my bike 3x's a week and boarding at least once-but that becomes more frequent over the winter to set me up for my annual boarding trip) is actually good for us.
It means that i have plenty of fresh stories to tell her-like yesterday my mate broke the forx and front wheel on a bike we'd borrowed off my other mate for him,lol - and i was also able to tell her all bout my trip to fort bill for the wc - albeit most of the stories were bout the stupid things we did when we were pissed, lol .
But yeah i reckon that for me anyways biking needs to remain as something that i do with my mates, its a bit of time to get away from the mundane everyday life and have a laugh. and yeah i reckon taking the bird out would be boring cos she aint going to want to go hurtling down downhill tracks such as inners or fort bill or get some styled out air on the dirt jumps or 4x tracks, plus riding with someone on a pink bike (trust me she would make sure everything on hers would be pink) would be just plane embarrassing plus she would be constantly asking for a Shot on my pride and joy!!

But thats just my view,so dont shoot me for it,lol.

I read this and I'm beginning to see my motivation for writing this.

As I've said, I've just sold my wife's bike as she doesn't ride much...
and I guess I'm wondering whether to get her a new one.

This forum is great as I get to see how other people's minds work.

Before we were married I nagged her more to come riding with me, now I also feel the need to get out with my mates.
But marriage is still new to me, so I feel a bit bad for wanting to leave her all the time.
