My god there really are no new ideas on the suspension front, is there? Just a lot of variations on the same theme.

I think it's time for bike R&D depts to start thinking outside the box and come up with some fresh approaches, cus if that's all we're gonna get for 10/11*, they are gonna be boring seasons in terms of technology.

*Actually, I know it's not what we're gonna be getting for 2010/11, as I've seen the spy shots, and boy, are they interesting designs. Just it's very early days and no one is going public yet.

Is that a new Orange bike in there looking rather like an 07 Meta frame, or do my eyes deceive me?

Ya link don't work, but I worked out the pic. Well spotted!

It's not got the contact system as the position of the shock is all wrong, and is that a link on the seatstay?

Bloody hell!
Orange making a bike that's not a simple single pivot?  Shocked

That was one company I thought would never change their suspension!

Hmmm. I've just been comparing the orange to a meta, and it is a very similar system.
Only difference is the rear pivot on the orange is further back, and the shock sits at a slightly different angle. I think somebody's been reading patents, and adjusting things just to not quite be covered by the patents, in the hope it works in a similar way....

I've got hold of a big version of it. Just upped it to the download section.

It's called the ST4, and it's got a link on the seatstay. Initally I thought it was maybe a softtail but the rear mech cable routes along the chainstays and have two cable stops, so it can't be. However there is no obvious sign of a traditional position main pivot behind the chainset, so it's an interesting one.

JUST SEEN ONE, IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME main PIVOT SETUP AS a Kona, and lots of other faux bar bikes.

So, Orange move on from the oldest full susspension design in the world to..... the 2nd oldest suspension design in the world. I suppose it's a logical step really.

Do they have an R&D dept?

LOL.

I really would hate to be stuck at Eurobike this year, everything is just so damn boring.
