Thinking of trying to save some weight on my tyre/tube combo on my 666. Considering a pair of High Roller 2.35 UST's with Stans No Tubes. Anyone had any experience of High Roller UST's or Stans or both?

I love all the UST high rollers, switch between the 2.1 XC style ones and the 2.35/2.5 super tacky ones for trips to the alps. Lots of grip even with the skinny ones, no problems with DT tubeless kit and a bit a stan's sealant.

When you say you're going to use UST tyres with Stans No Tubes what do you mean exactly as you might be at cross purposes?

A Stans No Tubes kit will allow you to convert a normal tyre and rim to tubeless so you don't need a UST tyre.

Specific UST tyres, (except Michelin who have developed a universal design), only work properly on UST rims as they have bead locks incorporated into the rim design.  If you use a UST tyre on a UST rim it's Def worth putting latex in too such as Stans No Tubes latex to stop thorn punctures etc.

You can also use normal tyres on a UST rim with latex, they will seal with about 30% more latex added than normally recommended.

I don't know anyone who has tried mounting a UST tyre on a normal rim with a No Tubes kit Huh?  Would be more expensive than the normal way too as UST tyres cost more.

I've done something a bit like that - I have DT 5.1 rims which are not UST, plus the DT tubeless conversion kit (rim strip) and UST high Rollers.

This has been working well for over a year now - no punctures/pinch flats. I used to get a lot of pinch flats.

Main reason I was considering UST tyres is I thought the sidewalls would be more durable than single ply's. Don't really want to go to 2-ply's cos of the weight. As suggested I might try and use normal tyres and see how I get on.
